What Therapy Has Taught Me

Therapy has taught me not to believe everything I think or feel.

It has taught me to question, to analyze, and to look within.

It has taught me to give myself a break and not to be so hard on myself.

It has given me hope, courage, and a new perspective.

Therapy has taught me that there is always a solution.

It has taught me that recovery is possible.

It has taught me that I am not always the one to blame.

It has taught me that I shouldn’t worry or jump to conclusions.

It has taught me how to set boundaries.

Therapy has taught me that my feelings are valid and are worth listening to.

It has taught me the importance of communication and saying how you feel.

It has taught me to focus on the things in life that bring me joy.

It has taught me to be more patient and it has helped me grow.

It has taught me that seeking therapy is nothing to be ashamed of.

Therapy has taught me that I am not alone.

Therapy has saved my life…

What has therapy taught you? How has it helped?

  1. Great post and message

  2. Great post. Therapy has taught me many of the same things.

  3. It has taught me all of the above but I think the most important things it has taught me are: the importance of communication and saying how you feel.

  4. I’M IN THE MIDST OF TRANSFERRING TO ANOTHER THERAPIST! ALL THOSE THINGS ABOVE ARE TRUE, YET THERAPISTS DON’T EVEN COORDINATE MUCH WITH EACH OTHER—AT LEAST AT “SOUTH BAY”.

  5. Therapy taught me that I deserve to honor my needs and be realistic in what I need. Great post!

  6. Love this!! Therapy has taught me most of the same and also that I need to slow down.. really try to understand why I am thinking the way I am and what it actually means (not what I think it means). I can’t wait to read more of your blog!!!

    • Learning to slow down is a good one too. I can definitely relate to that as well! Thank you so much for visiting and commenting on my blog. I really appreciate it!
